John Canada

President & Principal Naval Architect

John Canada graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1994 and began his professional career with Sea Ray Sport Yachts.

John provides the business leadership and general management for Ocean5 as well as the technical lead to new hull design, structures, hydrostatics, and composites. Prior to forming Ocean5, John served in various design and engineering leadership roles at US Marine, OMC Boat Group, Applied Concepts, Pursuit Boats, and Whiticar Custom Boats.

John has been a participating member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) for 20 years, a Member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA), American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE), American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) certified technician and a frequent guest speaker at the annual International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX).
